Your Google Business Profile is usually where most first contact happens: calls, directions, reviews, and the decision to trust you. If it is not showing up in the map pack, one of these seven issues is almost always why.
1. Your primary category is wrong
Category is one of the strongest ranking signals, and "roofing contractor" is not the same as "roofer" to Google. Pick the most specific primary category that matches your core service, then add relevant secondary categories.
2. Your profile is incomplete
Missing services, hours, attributes, or photos all cost you. A complete, active profile outranks a neglected one, even when the neglected business is larger.
3. You do not have enough reviews
Review count, rating, and recency are all ranking signals. If competitors have hundreds of recent reviews and you have a handful, that gap shows up in the rankings. A simple, consistent review system closes it.
4. Your name, address, and phone are inconsistent
If your details differ across directories, Google loses confidence in your data and caps how high you rank. Cleaning up citations often lifts rankings on its own.
5. You are relying on the profile alone
The map pack and your website feed each other. Without a real, optimized website and service pages, your profile has less to stand on. Our hybrid approach ranks both together.
6. Competitors are gaming it
Keyword-stuffed business names and fake addresses break Google's rules, but they still rank until reported. We identify and report them, which often lifts your position for free.
7. You just started
New profiles take time to earn trust. In competitive markets, expect three to twelve months of consistent work. The businesses that stay active and keep earning reviews win.
What to do next
Most of these are fixable in weeks, not months. A free audit will show you exactly which ones are holding your profile back.
